How to save fuel for excavators

Publish Date 2020-10-31
Faced with the current downturn in the construction machinery industry, with the increase in fuel prices, the profit margins for excavator operators have become smaller and smaller. Excavator fuel consumption is so huge, it can even be said that the oil price seriously affects the income of excavator drivers to a certain extent. So, how to save fuel without reducing work efficiency and the service life of the excavator is a hot topic in the construction machinery industry.
We are well aware of the pains of all excavator industry drivers, and collected some tips on the fuel-saving operation of excavators, and specially compiled them into articles, hoping to provide some help to our friends.

We are well aware of the hardships of all drivers in the construction machinery industry, and collected some tips on the fuel-saving operation of excavators, and specially compiled them into articles, hoping to provide some help to our friends.

1. High-level digging

In the operation, first select the part with a higher excavation position, and then go to the part with a lower excavation position. Compared with the direct low-level excavation, the cycle time can be shortened by about 12% and the fuel consumption can be increased by about 8%.

2. Bucket stick excavation range

When the bucket cylinder and the connecting rod, the head rod cylinder and the head rod are all at 90°, the force of the cylinder to push the excavator *5655. For excavation on natural ground, the floor angle of the bucket or ripper should be kept at about 30°, and the bucket rod should be retracted. When the stick is close to vertical, the stick force *5655 can bear more load. Because the digging force of the stick is the smallest when the working range of the stick is 5655, the difficulty of digging is increased. Therefore, at the beginning of digging, do not extend the stick to the working range of 5655. The effect is better to start from about 80%.

3. Avoid idling the engine

When the engine is idling, there will also be oil in the hydraulic pump that will cycle and consume fuel. Assuming that 1 hour out of a day and 10 hours is idling, then, if idling can be avoided, about 230 liters of fuel can be throttled each year, so In the process of daily loading or operation, when the vehicle is stopped for a long time in the middle, try not to "wait" at idle speed.

4. Avoid heavy load and pressure drop

When the excavated sand or stone is overloaded, the excavator will fall into a depressed state. Assuming that 6 minutes out of the 10-hour period of 1 day is the pressure reduction mode, then, if pressure reduction can be avoided, approximately 840 liters of diesel can be throttled each year. The pressure-relief operation not only consumes oil, but also consumes machine.

5. Reduce the circling angle

Reducing the hover angle when loading the dump truck can shorten the work cycle, and increase the work volume within the unit time, which naturally increases fuel efficiency.

6. Use high-quality accessories and attachments

High-quality excavator attachments and excavator accessories can not only improve work efficiency, but also reduce unnecessary fuel consumption, thereby reducing the fuel consumption of the excavator during operation.
